This website is maintained by Simon Sturdee who is a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery working in Halifax and Huddersfield in West Yorkshire.
He graduated from Leeds University Medical School in 1996. His basic surgical training was undertaken in Leeds, Harrogate and Bradford working in the specialties of General medicine, Accident and Emergency medicine, General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Cardiothoracic surgery and Trauma and orthopaedic Surgery. During this time he obtained membership of The Royal College of Surgeons of England and The Royal College of Surgeon’s of Edinburgh. In 2001 the Yorkshire Deanery appointed him to a higher surgical training rotation in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery, and he worked in Leeds, Airedale, Wakefield, Bradford. He passed his intercollegiate exam in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery in 2005 and after this he undertook two specialist training fellowships. The first was a Knee Fellowship at Harrogate District Hospital and the second was a Foot and Ankle fellowship at the Wirral Foot and Ankle Unit, Wirral University Teaching Hospital, Merseyside.
During his time as a trainee he was heavily involved with training issues and was on the Executive committee of the British Orthopaedic Trainees Association (BOTA) for four years, two of which were as the Treasurer. He represented trainees on several national committees. As a Consultant he is still heavily involved with training and is the College Tutor for junior doctors in the orthopaedic department and also has a registrar working with him who he trains in foot and ankle surgery.
He has been a Consultant since April 2008. His NHS practice is based at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust working at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and Calderdale Royal Hospital.His private practice is based at Elland Hospital, Elland and Huddersfield BMI Hospital.
His elective interests are lower limb surgery, mainly foot and ankle (Below the knee). He is a member of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS), The European Foot and Ankle Society (EFAS), An International member of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS), and The British Orthopaedic Association (BOA). He is a Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Mr Sturdee offers a comprehensive foot and ankle service offering surgical and non-surgical treatments. He has a particular interest in ankle arthroscopy and sports injuries (Has treated professional rugby league players from Huddersfield Giants) and also performs total ankle replacements. He also does minimally invasive foot surgery where appropriate (MIS Surgery). He works closely with physiotherapists, orthotists, podiatrists, anaesthetists, pain specialists, radiologists and nurses to provide a team approach to the patient’s problem.
Dr Beadle is a Consultant Anaesthetist. He works as a Consultant at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust and works privately at Elland Hospital. He anaesthetises for Mr Sturdee on a Wednesday morning at Calderdale Royal Hospital and on a Thursday afternoon at Elland Hospital.
Dr Johnson is a Consultant Anaesthetist. He works as a Consultant at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust and works privately at Elland Hospital. He anaesthetises for Mr Sturdee on a Wednesday afternoon at Calderdale Royal Hospital.
Dr Nikhil Bhuskute is a Consultant Radiologist with a special interest in musculosketal imaging. He works as a Consultant at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust and works privately at Elland Hospital and BMI Huddersfield Hospital. (Click here to view Dr Bhuskute’s personal website)
Chris Parish works closely with Mr Sturdee providing expertise in non operative treatments such as orthotic management. He also has expertise in biomechanical assessment. He works at Elland Hospital and BMI Huddersfield Hospital.
Mr Sturdee works very closely with the physiotherapists in the out patient departments in Calderdale Royal Hospital, Elland Hospital and BMI Huddersfield Hospital.
